Bankable Feasibility Studies

Building Projects That Attract Investment

Every successful capital project begins with a credible feasibility study. Dehrmann BioEnergy assists governments, private developers, investors and development finance institutions by producing technically robust and commercially credible feasibility studies for sugar, ethanol, co-generation and integrated bioenergy projects.

Our Approach to Bankable Feasibility Studies

Progressively Reducing Project Risk

Our studies develop progressively as the project definition matures. At each stage, the engineering basis is strengthened, risks are examined in greater detail, and the reliability of capital and operating cost estimates improves. This enables clients to make informed go/no-go investment decisions as the project develops, while progressively reducing technical and financial uncertainty.

Where appropriate, cost estimates are classified in accordance with relevant Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International recommended practices. This provides a structured basis for communicating the maturity, intended purpose and expected accuracy of each estimate.

Our objective is to reduce uncertainty, identify project risks early and provide decision-makers with reliable information before significant capital is committed.

From Screening to Definitive Feasibility

Studies may begin with early opportunity screening or preliminary assessment before progressing through concept development, pre-feasibility and ultimately definitive feasibility. As engineering definition develops, cost estimates may progress through appropriate levels including order-of-magnitude, study, budget and control estimates.

Each stage builds on the information developed previously and may include increasingly detailed engineering, cost estimation, implementation planning, risk assessment and commercial evaluation.

This allows clients to make informed decisions before committing further development expenditure, while improving engineering definition, capital cost accuracy and implementation planning.

Technical Scope

Depending on the project and stage of development, a feasibility study may evaluate:

  • Feedstock availability and agricultural development
  • Process technology and plant capacity
  • Energy and mass balances
  • Utilities and supporting infrastructure
  • Site conditions and logistics
  • Environmental and permitting considerations
  • Implementation strategy and schedule
  • Operational requirements and readiness

The relevant engineering disciplines are integrated throughout the study to maintain a consistent technical basis.

How DBE Supports Feasibility Studies

Dehrmann BioEnergy combines technical engineering, commercial and financial analysis, and independent advice to help clients make informed project investment decisions.

Commercial and Financial Analysis

Technical feasibility alone is insufficient. We integrate capital expenditure (CAPEX), operating expenditure (OPEX), implementation schedules, production forecasts and operating assumptions into the project evaluation. Sensitivity analysis, scenario analyses and commercial evaluations help clients understand project economics, investment risks and other key project variables.

Independent Advice

Because Dehrmann BioEnergy is independent of equipment suppliers and technology licensors, our recommendations remain objective. Alternative technologies and development strategies are evaluated on their technical performance, lifecycle economics, operational suitability and commercial viability rather than vendor preference.

Typical Deliverables

Depending on the scope and level of study, deliverables may include:

  • Process descriptions and conceptual layouts
  • Energy and mass balances
  • Capital and operating cost estimates
  • Implementation schedules
  • Risk registers
  • Financial modelling and evaluation
  • Project development roadmaps
  • Recommendations for detailed engineering and execution
